TECHNICAL GUIDE
In 2017 there were an estimated 1.8 million new HIV infections globally, and 47 per cent of these occurred among members of key populations – men who have sex with men, people who inject drugs, sex workers, transgender women and prisoners – and their sexual partners. Members of key populations are estimated to be far more likely to be living with HIV than members of the general population.
The purpose of this publication is to provide guidance on implementing HIV, hepatitis C (HCV) and
hepatitis B (HBV) programmes for people who use stimulant drugs and who are at risk of contracting
these viruses.
